This isn't specifically a memory about Mother's Day, but it is a memory of my mom, and her mother, my maternal grandmother. This photograph of Sara Melzina Wolfe Guokas Archibald (1907-1997) with her daughter Geraldine Margaret Guokas Pape (1929-2019) was taken in Fredericksburg, Texas, in September 1993. Mom and Dad had moved into their new post-retirement home there (at 1003 Avenue A) just the month before, and over the course of a few days, both of my grandmothers, my maternal aunt, and all of my siblings came to visit them. I flew down from my then-home in Lynnwood, Washington, for the same few days that overlapped with their visits.
