My maternal grandfather, Charles Peter Guokas Jr. (1903-1997), pictured with the family cow outside their home at 1717 Shearn in Houston, Texas. He looks to be about 12 here, so I think this is about 1915. I believe this view is looking south, towards the house behind them at 1720 Crockett. That house was a one-story dwelling, according to Sanborn maps from 1907 and 1924. The roofs of houses to the west along Sabine street (1717 Shearn was at the southeast corner of Shearn and Sabine) can be seen on the right.
