At left is a photo of my maternal grandfather, Charles Peter Guokas Jr. (1903-1967), that was part of his identification (a card or a badge) when he served as assistant fire marshal for the City of Houston, Texas, in the early 1940s. Below is a clipping from page 442 of the 1942 Houston, Texas, City Directory, showing all the Guokases (all of whom are related). Charles Jr. with wife Melzina and three children live at 2215 Shearn, and he is an assistant City Fire Marshal.
