(Not-So-) Wordless Wednesday: Happy Birthday to My Cousin Terrie!

My cousin Teresa "Terrie" Ann Pape, taken in December (because another image taken the same day, which I will share later, has a Christmas tree), probably 1956.  That's her mother, Dolores "Lorrie" Frances Olker Pape (1929-2005), in the background of the photo above, and her dad, Paul Robert Pape Jr. (1926-2008) is the man with the patterned socks in the photo below.  Not sure who the other man is, probably one of my uncles.  The last photo shows Terrie sitting on a chair with her mother.

These photos are from Kodachrome slides I found in the study of my late father, Frederick Henry Pape (1929-2017).

Sentimental Sunday: Mare and Rho with Uncle Bob - April 1953

My Uncle Bob, Paul Robert Pape Jr. (1926-2008), with nieces Marianne ("Mare") and Rosemary ("Rho") Streff at the front steps of the home of my grandparents, Paul Robert Pape (1896-1970) and Elizabeth Florence Massmann Pape (1902-2000), at 2093 West Lunt Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.  The photo above was cropped out of a Kodachrome slide I found in the study of my late father, Frederick Henry Pape (1929-2017). Dad took the photo when he was home on leave from the Air Force, enroute from Korea to Ellington Air Force Base in Houston, Texas.  Bob was also on leave from the Navy and service in Korea.

Sentimental Sunday: Bob and Lorrie, June 1953

Below is a photograph taken in June 1953 of my uncle, Paul Robert "Bob" Pape Jr. (1926-2008), and his fiancée, Dolores "Lorrie" Frances Olker (1929-2005), sometime shortly after the June 13, 1953 double wedding of Bob's sisters Rose Mary "Moe" Pape Dietz (1931-2007) and Marilyn Electa "Beete" Pape Hedger, in which Bob (and my dad, Fred) were either ushers or groomsmen.

The photo above was cropped out of the photo below, which was taken at 2093 West Lunt Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.  This is a Kodachrome slide I found in the study of my late father, Frederick Henry Pape (1929-2017).  I'm not sure who the woman at the top of the stairs (which go into the back part of the house) is.  It's not Beete nor Moe, and it's not my mother, who was not present at this wedding, as she and my dad had only recently met.

Friday's Faces From the Past: Happy Birthday to My Cousin Ron!

Below is a photograph taken in June 1954 of my aunt, Rose Mary "Moe" Pape Dietz (1931-2007), and her husband Ronald Joseph "Das" Dietz (1931-1994), holding their firstborn, son, Ronald Paul Dietz, who is about a month old.

The photo above was cropped out of the photo below...

...which was cropped out of the image below, which was taken at 2093 West Lunt Avenue in Chicago, Illinois.  This is a Kodachrome slide I found in the study of my late father, Frederick Henry Pape (1929-2017).  The original includes my mother, Geraldine Guokas Pape (leaning over the ledge at the front door landing), as well as my uncle Frank James "Bud" Streff Sr. (1925-2014), whose head is visible on the right.  In front of him are his three oldest children, from front to back, they are Marianne, Bud Jr., and Rosemary (1949-2016).

My parents, who were engaged at the time, had traveled to Chicago for the wedding of Dad's older brother, Paul Robert "Bob" Pape Jr. (1926-2008), as Dad was the best man in the wedding.  More images from that day and times around it to come!
