At that time (1941), Catholic schools only went through grade 7 - grade 8 was part of high school. Above is my mother Geraldine Guokas Pape's graduating class at St. Joseph Catholic School in Houston (click on the photo to see a larger version).
Here are the names that my mother wrote on the back of the photo above. She didn't know some names, and I made some corrections based on parish First Communion and Confirmation records:
First [front] row: Wendell Parks, Vincent Sicola, Helen Siedl [probably Seidl], Margaret Jamail, Rose Marie Poppenhausen, Me [Geraldine Guokas], Mariam Jamail, Lois Hoffer, Helen Szydlik, Vera Barbosa, Leroy Kelley [probably Kelly], David Jamail.
Second row: Father Difenbach, Leon Chimel, Charles Seeberger, Annie Mae Cleboski, Sophie Petrovsky, Adele Jamail, Dolores --, Mary Joe Danna, Floyd Ducharme, Father Sullivan.
Third row: Floyd Lemon, --, Louis Kutach, --. Hugo Byiro, Eugene --, Bruno Angeli [probably Angelo], Daniel Davila, Francis Kiernan [probably Kervin].
At left is my mother in her graduation finery, and below is what was printed on the back of all her St. Joseph Catholic School report cards. Below this, a parent signed the card for each grading period.
